The Tendaho Dam and Irrigation Project, which is located around Logiya town of the Afar State at a cost of over 4.1 ETB, was started in 1997 E.C and completed in 2009 E.C. The project included the construction of 72 km main canal as well as primary, secondary and tertiary canals. The Tendaho dam, which has a capacity of holding 1.8 billion cubic meters of water, can develop 60,000 hectares of land.

Rebar Cutting and Bending Workshop
The Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation has established a Rebar Cutting and Bending Workshop to supply necessary steel materials at a central level for various projects.
The workshop is responsible for cutting, bending, and adjusting rebar according to the quantity and schedule provided by the corporation’s work units and projects, ensuring that the steel is delivered to the respective projects where it will be utilized.
By centralizing the supply of cut and bent steel, the workshop has improved steel utilization, reduced waste, eliminated the time projects spend on cutting and bending, enabled efficient time management, created a convenient work environment, and ensured workplace safety.
Project at its final phase
Haile Garment Fruits and Vegetables Market Center construction project, which includes multiple buildings, warehouses, sheds, public restrooms, fencing, and other construction works, is reported to be in its final phase.
It has been stated that, apart from the internal asphalt road and electromechanical works currently underway at the center, other construction works have been completed.
Corporation’s Half-Year Performance Reported as Encouraging
The Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) has evaluated the six-month performance of the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC).
The holding company stated that the corporation is performing better than planned and emphasized the need to focus particularly on infrastructure development sectors.
It was also highlighted that, given the corporation’s existing capacity, there is confidence in achieving even more advanced performance moving forward. The holding company expressed its commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure this progress.

Over the past two years, the construction of the Yabelo City Bypass asphalt concrete road, which was being built by the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC), faced delays due to challenges in right of way. However, after the regional government resolved the issue, the construction has been completed, and the road is now open for service.
ECC Participates in Global Irrigation and Climate Resilience Conference
The Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECC) is participating in the International Conference on Irrigation Development and Climate Resilient Productivity at Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in Addis Ababa.
The conference will run until February 14, 2025, with representatives from various countries in attendance. An exhibition showcasing irrigation works has also been opened for viewing.
At the conference and exhibition, ECC is showcasing its various products and services for irrigation and water works.
Training underway on ethical leadership
Ethics and Follow up Main Department of the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECC) in collaboration with the Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (FEACC) is currently providing training to senior officials of the corporation under the theme ‘Ethical leadership for institutional successes’.
At the opening of the training, FEACC Deputy Commissioner Fekadu Seboka said, the training would have paramount importance to kindle anti-corruption struggle within the corporation as it is sector-focused and experience-centered.
Corporation CEO, Engineer Yonas Ayalew also said, the training would strengthen the fight against corruption as the training would equip the leadership with better understanding and information on the problem.
The on-going training, being provided in several rounds, would be given to other executive bodies and employees of the corporation.

The contractual agreement is signed on January 16, 2015, with the contract amount of Birr 874,442,881. Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation is the supervisor of the project. The project is completed this year, 2020. It connects Ethiopia with south Sudan.
